To honor the highest solar energy of the year, I invite you to Summer Solstice Sadhana - The 7 Day Circadian Reset Home Practice.

With the distractions and demands of a modern lifestyle, our own internal clock can get thrown off balance. We will lean into the peak of solar (Surya) energy - making it the most potent time to reset the body's biological clock, and help to bring balance to energy levels, digestion, metabolism, hormones and sleep.

This 7 day practice is inspired from my sadhana yoga practice while in India. What was most profound was the effect on body and mind while practicing at the sacred transition points of the day, sandhya kala.

In yoga's Vedic system, the body is a microcosm of the universe. The sun (Surya) is not just light; it is Surya Narayana, the cosmic soul and the giver of life force (Prana). The moon (Chandra) is the keeper of Soma - the divine nectar of devotion, cooling peace, and mental rejuvenation. We will work with nature’s divine energy to balance the two primary energy channels within us, also known as ida and pingala nadi.

  • Ida (lunar): The left channel, which is cooling and intuitive.

  • Pingala (solar): The right channel, which is heating and analytical.

Our practice will happen during the sandhya windows of sunrise and sunset. Our physiology will benefit from the natural energetic shifts during this time which can be viewed as a saatvic time of day, where the atmosphere is naturally more harmonious, quiet, calm and pure; allowing the body and mind to be more receptive and in alignment with nature’s clock, supporting regulation of serotonin and melatonin.

The solstice is an effective time to leverage the suns amplified energy and natures guidance to support our internal energy levels throughout the day in order to receive a truly restorative rest at night.

  • Morning Surya Sadhana (6:00 AM – 6:40 AM)

    • Beat the morning sluggishness, activate your inner fire, and synchronize with the energy of rising sun. Through pranayama and dedicated rounds of Sun Salutations, we channel warmth to light our internal Agni (transformative inner fire), boost energy, digestion, vitality, mental clarity for the day.

  • Evening Chandra Sadhana (9:00 PM – 9:40 PM)

    • We gather shortly after sunset and leverage the grounding energy of earth. We will cool the mind and honor the moon through restorative breath, postures and guided yoga nidra; ride the natural wave of evening relaxation and prepare the body for deep sleep.
